Commercial Groundwork Projects

City of Madras 10th Street Improvements

K3 was contracted by the CIty of Madras to reconstruct 1700 feet of gravel road, installing new base rock, adding sidewalks, storm drainage and a new asphalt surface. This section of 10th Street is a main connector between Madras High School and J Street, so maintaining proper traffic control and working with local residents was critical in allowing the project to go smoothly.

Metolius Elementary School

The school district needed additional updated parking and a safer drop-off location for kids at the front of the school. K3 crews removed 6 large trees that were overhanging the school, making room for the new parking lot. We added a new storm drainage system and placed aggregate base rock. After paving the parking lots, we hired a local landscaper to install a brand-new irrigation system and lay sod in the lawn areas. This project was a huge improvement to the functionality and curb appeal of Metolius Elementary.

Madras Starbucks

The coffee chain was putting a new coffee shop in the South Y of Madras and K3 was contracted to take care of all the groundwork for it. First, we had to demo and remove an existing building from the site. Then we excavated for the new parking lots and building pad. We paved the brand-new parking lot after installing utilities and a gravel base.

Madras Affordable Senior Housing

We helped extensively with the phasing & scheduling on this project for a non-profit organization called Age+. We took care of the mass excavation, utilities, foundation excavation, and paving. In other words, all the groundwork.

Desert Peaks Golf Course Pathway

The local City of Madras golf course needed paved cart paths to enhance the course route. The challenge we faced was that we could not disturb any of the green outside of the new trail footprint. After using a sod cutter to remove the sod with a clean cut, we excavated the subgrade, added base rock, and paved the new pathway. K3 crews interacted with the golf course to work around other players and tournaments to avoid interruption to the course.

Madras COCC Building 2

COCC is expanding its Madras Campus to offer more capacity and a new daycare facility. K3 is working for Kirby Nagelhout to complete all the groundwork for the new building. We imported 12,000 cubic yards of structural fill from Rock n Road Quarry to level the site and create a flat building pad. Then, we installed all the underground utilities to service the new building. In the end, we will pave the new parking lot and entrance road.

Madras Emergency Shelter

We worked as a subcontractor under 2KG Contractors to complete the groundwork for this project for the City of Madras. The site called for almost 10,000 yards of hard sandstone to be excavated and hauled away to our dumpsite at Rock N Road Quarry.

Warm Springs Subdivision

Warm Springs Housing Authority and Wolf Construction & Development hired us to complete all the underground utilities for a low income housing subdivision. We were able to work through all the challenges that working in Warm Springs entails.

City of Condon Streets & Parking

We worked extensively in the small town of Condon to rehabilitate several existing streets and parking lots for the City and the School District. We worked to combine several projects together to maximize efficiency.

Jefferson County Fairgrounds

The Fairgrounds were due for some major upgrades to their roads and pathways. We widened several of the old roads and layed new asphalt for much better public access.

Jefferson County Health & Wellness Building

Skanska USA hired us for this project because of our local, Madras connections. This project was surrounded by St. Charles Hospital, residential homes, and retirement/assisted living facilities so there were a lot of pedestrians and onlookers that we had to work around every day. With Skanska’s help we didn’t have any issues or complaints. Just old folks sitting on their porches, full of smiles and waves. We did everything groundwork, and then some. To level the site we trucked 10,000 yards of dirt off the site. We installed all the underground utilities, prepped for the new building foundation, built parking lots and paved them. We took care of all the site concrete as well.

City of Madras Heliport

We moved 5000 cu yds of dirt and built a gravel pad for firefighting helicopters to land on during fire season. This was a short notice project from the City of Madras. came to us asking for help to complete in an aggressive timeframe. We were able to start on the project 3 days after being awarded the bid, and finished less than 3 weeks later.

Madras Mid Oregon Credit Union

We worked as a subcontractor for Sunwest Builders to excavate for a new parking lot and an addition to an existing building. We finished the project by paving the the new parking lot.

Burns Dollar General

Stout Building contractors of Utah hired us to do excavation and site prep on this small retail store. Our flexibility allowed them speed up the project by three months. We used Geogrid fabric to stabilize the native soil and improve earthquake safety. We also handled the paving.

Condon Grade School

On this project we worked as a subcontractor for Kirby-Nagelhout Construction. The new building is built on a hill of solid rock, so we had to break out about 3000 yards of rock to level the site. K3 did everything groundwork on this project. Earthmoving, utilities, building foundation prep, parking lot grading, and finally paving the new street and parking lots servicing both the new grade school and the existing high school.

Boro Subdivision

We are working for the property owner/ developer on this project in Madras. In order to level the site and build streets for 59 new mobile home sites, we had to move about 20,000 yards of dirt onsite. We installed all the underground utilities and built streets. Then we laid all the asphalt on the brand new streets.

Hood Avenue water line for the City of Sisters

Replaced a rusted old, one-inch water line with 8 inch line to serve the businesses along main street in Sisters. We were working in tight quarters in a very public location with a lot of old utilities and unknown obstacles. In three weeks we completed 800 feet of waterline — right on schedule.

Pratum Co-op demolition

Tore down a 100 x 200 ft wooden warehouse building in the Madras industrial park. The client Scheduled 3 weeks but we completed the job in 8 days. Fast and intensely satisfying.
